TrAIL Chick-fil-A Leader Academy

Eleventh and twelfth grade students in the Academy of Transportation, Analytics, Information, and Logistics Academy (TrAIL) at Bethel High School recently completed their impact projects as a part of the Trail Chick-fil-A Leader Academy. Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is a component of the Business Management and Logistics pathway of the TrAIL Academy and a national high school leadership program that focuses on Impact through Action.

For their project, eleventh grade students created care kits for the homeless, and it was a fantastic success. They gave donations to the Hampton Ecumenical Lodgings and Provisions (HELP) center that included 48 care kits, canned goods, and feminine products.

One of the student leaders, Jelani Evans said, “The impact project was an easy way to give back to the community to the ones that need it the most. Especially in a time like this.”

The twelfth grade students completed their project by delivering 75 “thank you” bags to honor the nurses at Sentara CarePlex Hospital. The bags contained gift cards, lotion, candles, and candy. Due to COVID guidelines, only a few students delivered the bags; however, they all worked hard to make the impact project a success. These students have been in the program for two years and have worked hard to give back to the community in multiple ways.

Heather Woodruff serves as the TrAIL Academy team lead and business and information technology teacher.
