Arnetta Hughes of Syms Middle School shares her accomplishments while teaching during a pandemic with national periodical

Arnetta Hughes, a business teacher at Syms Middle School, participated in answering a question from the National Business Education Forum publication and was selected to have her response published. This business periodical is for the National Business Education Association (NBEA) of which she has been a member since 1982. Her response was included with responses from other educators from Nebraska, Kansas, Connecticut, and Colorado.

Hughes said the submission of response was volunteer-based and she decided to step out and give it a try. The question proposed to members was, “What are you most proud of having accomplished during this challenging year?”

Her response included maintaining a positive mindset for a productive learning environment; motivating students to strive harder to reach their goals; developing a closer bond with students, parents, administrators, faculty, and staff; learning and embracing new technology to keep learning continuously; being more creative in preparing lessons at a higher level; and birthing creativity and critical thinking in my students.

Hughes said, “I enjoy teaching and accept the many challenges that often come with it.”
