Hampton City Schools announces two additional elementary assistant principal new hires

 

At the August 18, 2021, meeting of the School Board the following elementary assistant principals were approved for the 2021-2022 school year. 

 

Mary W. Jackson

 

Jasmin Royal will be serving the Mary W. Jackson students, families and staff as an assistant principal for the 2021-2022 school year, replacing Heather Goode who has been promoted to the division’s coordinator of early childhood education.

 

Royal comes to Mary Jackson from Cooper Elementary where she has served as a third and fourth grade teacher for the past three years. Prior to Cooper, she served as a third grade teacher at Bassette Elementary, a Title I family engagement specialist at Aberdeen Elementary and Cary Elementary, a special education instructional assistant at Bassette, a job coach instructional assistant at Hampton High School, and a general education instructional assistant at Phillips Elementary. In addition, she has served as a summer school coordinator and SOL tutoring coordinator.

 

She earned a bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies from Old Dominion University and a master’s in administration and supervision from Liberty University.

 

Phillips

 

Kisha Jones will be joining the Phillips administrative team for the 2021-2022 school year, serving in the role as an assistant principal. She is replacing Stephanie Sutton who will be serving as the assistant principal at Forrest Elementary.

 

Jones has served as a literacy support specialist for the past two years at Kraft Elementary. Prior to Kraft, she served as a reading interventionist at Cary Elementary and a kindergarten and first grade teacher at Bassette Elementary. Before joining Hampton City Schools, she was a first grade teacher in Newport News and a first grade teacher in Caroline County. In addition to her teaching and instructional positions, she has served as a 21st Century STREAM site coordinator for Hampton City Schools.

 

She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Virginia as well as a degree in educational administration and supervision from Old Dominion University.
