Spratley Gifted Center Theatre presents The Monologue Show

The Spratley Gifted Center theatre class is streaming its first virtual play on Friday, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 8 at 2:00 p.m. The Monologue Show is a comedy by Don Zolidis that features a frazzled classroom of students trying to pull together some kind of performance over Zoom as their teacher looks on in horror.

“The students have worked so hard to create this show and are so excited to share it with their family and friends,” said Amanda Galloway, Spratley choral director and musical theatre teacher. “I chose this show because each student who is involved has a monologue that can be filmed anywhere. The students do not need to interact with each other and can film it either at home or at school. There are some pieces where they talk with one another, but it is in a Zoom! Plus, it is a play about trying to put on a play!”

The theatre class studies both the on-stage and backstage aspects of theatre and usually produces a one-act play. This year they chose a longer selection that they could spend more time on and focus on learning how to record a play instead of performing it live.

Tickets are available through the online box office at http://spratley.booktix.com/. After purchasing a ticket, the patron will receive a link to the show. The cost is $9.75 per ticket.
