KHS graduate William Ledbetter earns position in US Navy band

William Ledbetter, a 2014 graduate of Kecoughtan High School, has earned a spot as the first African American bassist in the United States Navy Band in Washington.

Ledbetter won the position in the band after competing in several rounds of auditions against other talented individuals. He earned the only open spot. He will earn the title of Petty Officer First Class once he finishes his eight weeks of boot camp at the Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois.

“Ledbetter had an amazing and memorable performance and he will fit the team well,” said Navy Band Master Chief Musician Greta Loggins.
