Angela Byrd-Wright to co-present at the Annual NCME Special Conference on Classroom Assessment

 

Dr. Angela Byrd-Wright, mathematics curriculum leader and division equity leader, will be co-presenting with the Virginia Department of Education's Office of Mathematics and Assessment for the Annual NCME Special Conference on Classroom Assessment.

 

The National Council on Measurement in Education is a professional organization involved in assessment, evaluation, testing, and other aspects of educational measurement. Members are involved in the construction and use of standardized tests; new forms of assessment, including performance-based assessment; program design; and program evaluation.

 

The title of the presentation is, Leveraging Formative Assessment in Virginia Using Just in Time Mathematics Quick Checks. Byrd-Wright served as a lead developer for grades 7 - Algebra II Just in Time Quick Checks for the state. She has provided extensive training about the Just in Time Quick Checks to teachers, instructional leaders, administrators, and superintendents throughout the state over the past year.

 

The presentation will provide participants with information on how Quick Checks support instructional planning, target specific prerequisite skills, and provide opportunities for students to explain their thinking.
