Kecoughtan High School student wins national FIFA championship

 

Congratulations to George Vassilakopoulos, a senior at Kecoughtan High School. He won the FIFA eastern region and national championship. Schools partner with a company called PlayVS that organizes scholastic esports leagues where students play online games and matches weekly against other schools either in Virginia or in the Eastern Region. FIFA is a regional sport.

 

George won the fall 2021 Eastern Region championship and was invited to participate in the national championship in the spring of 2022. He won the national championship and was awarded a $7,000 scholarship.

 

George is a member of the cross country team, scholastic bowl, and varsity soccer team. He will be attending Old Dominion University in the fall where he plans to pursue a major in physics.
