Office Depot supports students with donations to schools

Hampton City Schools is so fortunate to have many community businesses, civic organizations and faith-based organizations to support the students and staff at our schools. One of those supporters is Kenny Tyiska, the assistant manager at Office Depot in Newport News and member of Open Door Full Gospel Church.

Tyiska, on behalf of Office Depot, made a large donation of supplies to Bryan Elementary School and Lindsay Middle School. The donations were accepted on behalf of the schools by family engagement specialists (FES) Helema Vandivier at Bryan and Diamond Torres at Lindsay.

Torres shared, “I am excited to share this generous donation from Office Depot with our students through school supply basket giveaways during upcoming virtual lunch & learn events and during family learning nights when we return to in-person. Binders are a big need for our middle school students to help with organization, so receiving a donation of binders, dividers, and locker shelves for added organization will be sure to bring a huge smile to our students’ faces. This is a great way to kick off when we return to in-person learning again!”

Bryan plans to use their donations in support of their art program, library, Secret Santa for teachers, staff motivations, perfect attendance awards, Citizen of the Month awards, and virtual science workshops.

Hampton City Schools is very appreciative of the support of our community!
