  • Adult GED classes are designed to help students strengthen their understanding and attainment of the skills and concepts present on The Tests of General Education Development (GED®). Classes begin in September. An assessment is required before enrolling into classes. To register, visit https://peninsulaed.com/.   • The Official GED® Test and the GED® Ready (practice test) both consist of four computer-delivered tests that include Science, Social Studies, Mathematical Reasoning, and Reasoning through Language Arts. The Hampton Adult Education Center is a Pearson Vue authorized testing center. For more information, visit https://ged.com/ or call 757-727-2150. 
  • English (ESL) classes are offered to adults whose first language is not English. To register, visit https://peninsulaed.com/. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Dunster at 757-727-1386 or by email at adunster@hampton.k12.va.us 
  • The Credit Class Program is an online high school credit recovery program for adults who need no more than two (2) credits to complete the requirements for a High School Diploma.   • The National External Diploma Program (NEDP) is a self-paced, web-based program for adults 18 years or older. NEDP offers flexibility to earn a diploma even if you are employed full-time, enrolled in job training, or have other commitments. To learn more about the NEDP, visit https://www.casas.org/nedp. Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Education Development (GED) classes are offered in-person, virtually, and online. 

 

In-person 

Class sessions: Tuesday and Thursday 9:00AM - 12:00PM (day session) or 6:00PM - 9:00PM (evening session)

Location: Adult and Alternative Learning Center 

Participants: Teachers and classmates 

Technology Required: Optional, but helpful 

 

Virtual 

Location: Zoom Meeting 

Participants: Teachers and classmates 

Technology Required: Yes, any device larger than a smartphone and internet connection

 

Online

Location: Web-based program 

Participants: Self-paced, independent 

Technology Required: Yes, can run on most devices including smartphones and internet connection

 

Registration

To start the enrollment process, please visit www.peninsulaed.com and complete a GED Class Interest Form by clicking on the GED Class tab. You will be contacted within 24 - 48 hours after submission by email to schedule a placement assessment. 

 

Official GED® Test

  • Go to www.ged.com and create an account (only create one account)
  • Schedule and pay for the official test
  • 4 test subjects – Reasoning though Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math
  • $30 per test and must be purchased with credit or debit card

GED® Ready Test (Practice Test)

Cost: $50 for books

 

Registration and a placement test are required before starting class. This will take approximately 2 hours to complete. Please do not bring children to registration and testing.
